Remove DHCP server from Active Directory

Purpose

This article gives the steps to remove a retired DHCP server from Active Directory using ADSIEDIT.

Steps

After unauthorizing and removing the role or if the server is already removed from Active Directory do the following.

  1. Open ADSIEdit
  2. Connect to the Configuration Container
  3. Drill down to CN=Configuration | CN=Services | CN=NetServices
  4. Highlight DHCP server to remove and Delete
  5. Restart DHCP service

You may have to remove it from the attributes from the CN=DHCPRoot | dhcpservers as well.
