Fix Tomcat6.exe Using a Large Amount of Memory for Vmware vCenter

Purpose

This article gives one method to fix tomcat6.exe from using large amounts of memory for Vmware vSphere 4/5 vCenter Web Services running on Windows Server.

Steps

  1. Login to the vCenter Windows server
  2. Change the following DWORD values in the registry
    1. Open regedit
    2. For 64-bit Operating Systems
      1. Browse to HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Apache Software Foundation\Procrun 2.0\vctomcat\Parameters\Java
    3. For 32-bit Operating Systems
      1. Browse to HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Apache Software Foundation\Procrun 2.0\vctomcat\Parameters\Java
    4. Change the following DWORD values to 0
      1. JvmMs JvmMx JvmSs
  3. Restart VMware Virtualcenter Management Webservices service
